PENGUINS ACQUIRE KWIATKOWSKI FROM FLORIDA

Penguins have acquired defenseman Joel Kwiatkowski from the Florida Panthers in exchange for a fourth round selection in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Kwiatkowski (KWEE-at-KOW-skee) is currently in his sixth NHL season and has recorded 10 points (five goals, five assists), while posting 20 penalty minutes, in 41 games with the Panthers.  He has scored a career-high two game-winning goals this season and is on pace to break his season high in scoring (12 points).

The 6-0, 202-pound native of Kindersley, Saskatchewan has collected 40 points (16 goals, 24 assists) in 263 NHL career games.  Kwiatkowski, 29, has also competed in six Stanley Cup Playoff games registering a plus-one.  He was originally selected in the eighth round (194th overall) by the Dallas Stars in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.
