TAMPA BAY POSTS 5-1 VICTORY OVER PENGUINS

TAMPA BAY – For the first time in 18 games, the Penguins lost a game by more than a goal with a 5-1 setback Sunday night in Tampa Bay.

Martin St. Louis got Tampa Bay on the scoreboard when he chipped in a rebound for a power-play goal 2:17 into the contest.

Paul Ranger made it 2-0 just 1:38 later for the Lightning when he slid a puck past Jocelyn Thibault.

Filip Kuba wristed a shot past 4:58 into the second period. The goal chased Thibault as Marc-Andre Fleury replaced him in the net.

Sergei Gonchar found the back of the net 11:34 left in the second period on a two-man advantage. He blistered a slap-shot from the far face-off circle past Johan Holmqvist. Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby earned assists on the play to cut the Penguins’ deficit to 3-1.

Brad Richards found the back of the net 1:31 into the third period for a 4-1 Tampa Bay lead.

Vincent Lecavalier tallied a short-handed goal with 5:44 left in the contest for a 5-1 Lightning advantage.
