LIGHTNING HOLDS OFF PENGUINS FOR 3-2 VICTORY
TAMPA BAY – Tampa Bay continued its mastery of the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday night with a 3-2 home triumph.
Sidney Crosby scored 24 seconds into the game for the Penguins. He stripped the puck from Tampa Bay defenseman Dan Boyle and broke in alone on goal, fell to his knees and flipped the puck past Johan Holmqvist.
Tampa Bay knotted the game at 1-all 6:11 into the contest when Vincent Lecavalier redirected the puck past Marc-Andre Fleury.
Martin St. Louis banked a puck in the net off Fleury 6:46 into the second period for a 2-1 Lightning lead.
Andreas Karlsson banged in his own rebound 3:20 into the third period for a 3-1 advantage.
Colby Armstrong trimmed the Penguins’ deficit to 3-2 when he deflected Brooks Orpik’s shot into the net with 2:41 to play.
