The Flames  captain recorded points in 12 contests, including a trio of four-point  performances in victories over Minnesota (5-2, Dec. 12), Phoenix (6-3,  Dec. 16) and Los Angeles (6-4, Dec. 29), and finished the month with three  points (one goal, two assists) and a +2 rating in a 4-2 victory over  archrival Edmonton on New Year's Eve. Iginla moved up to third place in League scoring with 52 points (22 goals, 30 assists) in 37 games.

THIRD STAR – SIDNEY CROSBY, C, PITTSBURGH PENGUINS

Crosby ranked second among NHL scorers in December with 26 points (seven goals, 19 assists) in 14 games. The 19-year-old posted a 10-game  \point streak from Dec. 2-21, including a career-high six points (one goal,  five assists) in an 8-4 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers Dec. 13 that  propelled him into the NHL scoring lead. Crosby ended the month with three assists in a 4-1 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs Dec. 29, raising his  League-leading points total to 58 (17 goals, 41 assists) in 34 games.
