Kris Letang is on Team Canada’s roster for the World Junior Championships again.

And, he’s the team’s captain.

Letang, the Penguins’ 2005 second-round pick, was anointed as Team Canada’s captain Friday. He is one of the returning players from Team Canada’s gold-medal squad at last year’s World Junior Championships in Vancouver. He had three points (1+2) in six games for Team Canada.

Letang had two goals in seven games with the Penguins this year before the 19-year-old was returned to his junior team in Val d’Or. He has 25 points (9+16) in 16 games for the Foreurs so far this year.

Team Canada leaves for Finland, where it will train from Saturday until Tuesday. Canada will play in two exhibition games, on Monday in Helsinki against Finland, and on Wednesday in Stockholm against Sweden.

Canada plays its first game of the 2007 World Junior Championship on Dec. 26 against the host Swedes.

In addition, defensemen Tommi Leinonen and Timo Seppanen will represent Finland at the tournament. Leinonen was a Penguins 2005 fourth-round pick, while Seppanen was taken in the seventh round this year by Pittsburgh.
