NHL ALL-STAR FAN BALLOTING GOES DIGITAL

For the first time, the NHL All-Star Fan Balloting process will be entirely digital.

From Nov. 15 through Jan. 2, fans around the world can “CLICK TO VOTE” for the Eastern and Western Conference All-Star starters for the 2007 NHL All-Star Game on-line at NHL.com and through Bell Canada cell phones.

COLD-fX, the Official Immune Enhancer of the NHL and NHLPA, is the Title Sponsor and 2K Sports, a leading publisher of current and next generation sports video games including NHL 2K7 featuring San Jose Sharks center Joe Thornton, is the Presenting Sponsor.

NHL legend and 16-time NHL All-Star Mark Messier will be the official spokesperson for COLD-fX / NHL All-Star Fan Balloting, Presented by 2K Sports. Messier will promote the “CLICK TO VOTE” campaign, which will be featured across the NHL All-Star Fan Balloting print, radio, on-line and wireless advertising platform.

Bell Canada will activate the NHL All-Star Fan Balloting program with exclusive NHL content and positioning on the main deck, enabling their customers to cast votes from Bell Canada cell phones. Voting instructions for wireless customers will be available on NHL.com. In addition, Bell Canada will promote NHL All-Star Fan Balloting in Canada on-line via Sympatico.MSN.ca, the official portal of the NHL in Canada.

In another NHL All-Star Fan Balloting first, NHL broadcast partners VERSUS (U.S.), CBC, RDS (Canada) and the North American Sports Network (NASN) will partner with the NHL to deliver a comprehensive and global on-air presence to All-Star Fan Balloting. Each broadcast partner will provide unique, in-game “CLICK TO VOTE” features, broadcast promos and on-line direct links to the NHL All-Star Fan Balloting section on NHL.com.

“NHL fans have always enjoyed voting for the NHL All-Star starting lineup. A completely digital platform now enables our fans all over the world to interactively engage in All-Star Fan Balloting at anytime,” said Ed Horne, President, NHL Enterprises.

The COLD-fX / NHL All-Star Fan Balloting, Presented by 2K Sports section on NHL.com will feature an interactive ballot, showcasing players with video clips, photos and virtual video game highlights created by 2K Sports.  Residents of the United States and Canada who vote will be able to register for a chance to win a trip for two to the 2007 NHL All-Star Game. As part of the sweepstakes, sponsored by COLD-fX, Messier will meet the winner and a guest at the NHL All-Star Game.

NHL Member Clubs will activate local “CLICK TO VOTE” campaigns, supporting their balloted players.

The 2007 NHL All-Star Celebration hosted at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas will feature live national broadcasts of the Dodge Nitro/NHL SuperSkills event on Tuesday, Jan. 23, and the NHL All-Star Game on Wednesday, Jan. 24, on VERSUS in the United States and CBC and RDS in Canada starting at 8 p.m., ET. NASN, the NHL’s exclusive broadcast partner in Europe, will provide live coverage of both the Dodge Nitro/NHL SuperSkills event and the NHL All-Star Game to more than 25 countries and territories in Europe. NHL RADIO on Westwood One will provide exclusive, national radio coverage in the United States and Canada, while Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio each will provide radio play-by-play coverage of the game.
