PENGUINS RECALL DEFENSEMAN NOAH WELCH
PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled defenseman Noah Welch from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, it was announced Monday by General Manager Ray Shero.
Welch, 24, has appeared in five games this season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, recording three points (1+2), a plus-2 rating and six penalty minutes. He ranks second among team defensemen in scoring.
Welch has appeared in 82 career AHL games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, recording 32 points (10+22), a plus-17 rating and 105 penalty minutes. Welch has also appeared in five NHL games with the Penguins, recording four points (1+3) and two penalty minutes.
The 6-4 and 218-pound native of Brighton, MA has drafted by the Penguins in the second round (54th overall) of the 2001 Entry Draft.
