THREE TEEN-AGE TEAMMATES SCORE IN NHL GAME FOR FIRST TIME IN 24 YEARS

When Jordan Staal, Kris Letang and Sidney Crosby scored goals for the Penguins in Thursday’s 6-5 win over the New York Rangers, it marked the first time in 24 years that three teen-agers on one team had scored in an NHL game.

It is the ninth time it has happened in NHL history

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the last time it happened was October 17, 1982, when teen-agers Dave Andreychuk, Paul Cyr and Phil Housley scored goals for the Buffalo Sabres in a 6-4 win over Edmonton.

Staal is 18, while Letang and Crosby are both 19.

The Penguins take on the defending Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes at Mellon Arena Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. For ticket information, please call 412-642-PENS.
