PENGUINS LOOK TO CONTINUE MOMENTUM SATURDAY AGAINST DETROIT

The Pittsburgh Penguins return to action at Mellon Arena Saturday at 7:30 p.m. against the Detroit Red Wings.

The Penguins, who play six of their first eight games at Mellon Arena, hope to begin the season with a strong push. They got off to a great start Thursday night with a 4-0 shutout of the cross-state rival Philadelphia Flyers.

Marc-Andre Fleury dazzled in the game as he turned away all 40 shots thrown his way and made a few sensational saves. Sidney Crosby and Jarkko Ruutu both had a goal and an assist on the night when Mario Lemieux’s No. 66 was raised to the Mellon Arena rafters once again.

The contest against Detroit marks the first of five home games for the Penguins against the Western Conference’s Central Division. Under the new NHL scheduling format, instituted last season, the Penguins will play all five Central Division squads at home this year after facing them all on the road last season. The Penguins hit the road to face all five Pacific Division opponents this season.

FSN Pittsburgh will televise Saturday’s contest at 7:30 p.m., while 105.9 The X will start its radio broadcast with a pregame show at 7 p.m. The broadcast may be found live through streaming audio on pittsburghpenguins.com as well. Tune in for Penguins Hotline following every game on 105.9 The X and the Penguins Radio Network. Join in the conversation with host Bob Grove by calling the Penn Telecom toll-free line at 1-866-922-2874.

For tickets, call (412) 642-PENS or 1-800-642-PENS or visit pittsburghpenguins.com. Fans may also purchase tickets directly at the Mellon Arena Gate One box office.
