CROSBY, PENGUINS WELCOME SABRES TO MELLON ARENA ON FRIDAY
(PRESS RELEASE: Hockey Night In Canada's MacLean to Referee Second Period)
Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins close out their preseason home slate at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Mellon Arena against the Buffalo Sabres.
The contest will be streamed live on pittsburghpenguins.com with Mike Lange and Phil Bourque making the call. There is no TV coverage for the game.
Crosby will take the Mellon Arena ice for the first time this preseason. He leads the Penguins and is tied for third in the league with seven points in three preseason appearances. He has two goals and five assists.
The Penguins return to town after a four-day visit to the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. The unique team-building trip gave the Penguins a chance to take a break from the rigors of training camp with a variety of unique military-based exercises. The team did not stay too far from the ice, though, as they worked out at the Army ice hockey team’s rink and training facility.
The voyage to West Point followed a stretch of three games in three days for Pittsburgh. The Penguins dropped a 5-4 overtime decision to Washington last Friday at Mellon Arena before playing two games in Canada over the weekend. Buffalo posted a 3-2 triumph in Hamilton, Ontario, on Saturday before the Penguins rebounded with a 2-1 victory over Philadelphia in London, Ontario, on Sunday.
Pittsburgh concludes its preseason schedule Saturday in Buffalo.
