ARMSTRONG\'S HAT-TRICK HIGHLIGHTS SECOND SCRIMMAGE

Colby Armstrong scored three goals Saturday to lead the white team to a 6-3 win in the Pittsburgh Penguins' second training camp scrimmage at Mellon Arena.

Evgeni Malkin opened the scoring for the black team when he scored on a devastating move on a penalty shot.

Erik Christensen knotted the score at 1-all when he tallied on a penalty shot.

Jordan Staal and Joe Jensen both converted penalty shots to give the black squad a 3-1 advantage.

Sidney Crosby brought the 2,000-plus crowd to its feet with a goal late in the period. He took a pass, split two defensemen with extreme acceleration and fired a shot on net. Andrew Penner made the first save, but Crosby banged home the rebound.

Armstrong roofed a penalty shot to knot the game at 3-all before intermission.

Christensen and Armstrong converted penalty shots in the second period. Armstrong slid home an empty-net goal to seal the win.

Both squads, who have split two games, battle again Sunday as training camp remains open to the public from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Free parking is available in the East Lot at Mellon.

Concession stands and the PenStation gift shop will be open as well.

ICE CHIPS: Penguins winger Ronald Petrovicky had hip surgery on Friday and is out indefinitely.
