PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury to a two-year contract, it was announced today by General Manager Ray Shero.

Fleury, 21, appeared in a career-high 50 games with the Penguins during the 2005-06 season, posting a 13-27-6 record with a 3.25 goals against average and one shutout.

He was named the American Hockey League’s Goaltender of the Month for the month of October. Fleury was recalled by the Penguins on November 28 and remained with the club for the remainder of the regular season.

Fleury returned to Wilkes-Barre for the AHL playoffs and led the Penguins to a first-round series win over Bridgeport, backstopping the team to wins in games six and seven of the series. Fleury was 2-3 with a 3.48 goals against average in five playoff games.

The 6-2 and 175-pound native of Sorel, Quebec was drafted first overall by the Penguins in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Fleury has appeared in 71 NHL games, posting a 17-41-8 record and a 3.36 goals against average.
