BABY PENGUINS FALL TO HERSHEY, 5-4, IN GAME 1
Colin Forbes scored two power-play goals Thursday night to lead Hershey to a 5-4 win over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the AHL East Division Finals.
The Baby Penguins look to even the series in Saturday night’s Game 2 in Wilkes-Barre.
Forbes scored his first power-play goal with 1:32 left in the first period. His second came 1:27 into the second period.
Boyd Kane scored a goal 1:03 later for a 3-0 lead before Dave Steckel made it a 4-0 game 8:51 into the period.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton fought back for three goals. Maxime Talbot scored a short-handed goal off a Ryan Stone assist with 1:11 remaining in the second. Stone added another shorty 52 seconds later.
Talbot scored his second goal of the game off Jonathan Filewich and Chris Kelleher assists 4:45 into the third to trim the deficit to 4-3.
However, Hershey’s Eric Fehr scored a goal with 8:39 remaining to boost the lead to 5-3.
Filewich scored his sixth postseason goal on the power play with 6:52 to go. Ryan Whitney and Stone assisted on the play.
Hershey outshot Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, 36-20. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 31 of the 36 shots he faced for the Baby Penguins.
