STONE'S THREE-POINT NIGHT FORCES SEVENTH GAME FOR BABY PENS
Now, it’s down to one.
Ryan Stone’s overtime goal Friday night gave Wilkes-Barre/Scranton a thrilling 3-2 road triumph over Bridgeport in Game 6 of their AHL first-round playoff series.
The Baby Penguins’ victory forced a Game 7 in the best-of-seven series. The two teams will meet Saturday night in Wilkes-Barre in the deciding contest.
Stone scored a power-play goal 13:39 into the extra period. Ryan Whitney and Jonathan Filewich had the helpers.
Marc-Andre Fleury earned the win in goal for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. The first-overall pick in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft stopped 33 of 35 shots.
Noah Welch got the Baby Penguins on the scoreboard first in the second period. With 1:10 remaining, he tallied a goal off Stone and Filewich assists.
Masi Marjamaki tied the game for Bridgeport 3:47 into the third period.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton responded at 10:04 of the final period on Filewich’s goal off Stone’s assist.
Matt Koalska knotted the score at 2-all 1:13 later.
The game went into OT before Stone completed his three-point night with the OT game-winner.
