PENGUINS SEASON TICKET PRICES REMAIN THE SAME FOR NEXT SEASON
Pittsburgh Penguins attendance has been among the best in the NHL this season.
They hope it stays that way next year, too.
The Pittsburgh Penguins announced there will be no increase in season ticket prices for the 2006-07 season.
Through 38 games at Mellon Arena, the Penguins have drawn 601,309 fans for an average of 15,824 or a 93.4 percent capacity at 16,940-seat Mellon Arena. Pittsburgh has drawn 10 standing room-only crowds of 17,132. The smallest crowd was 14,009 on Oct. 27 against Atlanta.
The impact isn’t limited to Pittsburgh, though. The Penguins have led the NHL in increased attendance regularly all season. They topped the league in increased attendance for four-straight months (October-January).
Next year’s ticket price announcement comes one year after the Penguins reduced ticket prices across the board, affecting every seat and every ticket plan at Mellon Arena.
“We want our fans to know how much we appreciate their tremendous support and are pleased to announce that we once again will be offering some of the most affordable tickets in the National Hockey League,” said Dave Soltesz, the Penguins vice president of sales and marketing. “We are building our team around exciting young players such as Sidney Crosby, Marc-Andre Fleury, Ryan Whitney and Colby Armstrong, and we look forward to an influx of even more young talent in 2006-07.”
The Penguins hope to add to their talented young core next year with the possible addition of Russian star Evgeni Malkin, the 2004 second-overall draft pick.
Season ticket packages available for the 2006-07 season include full season and half season (21-game) plans. The Penguins are currently accepting $100 deposits for these plans.
Under the Penguins’ pricing structure, more than 8,500 seats are priced at $30 or less for full season ticket plans. More than 4,500 seats are priced at $25 or less. And, more than 2,000 seats are priced at $15.
