PENGUINS BEGIN FOUR-GAME ROAD TRIP WEDNESDAY IN NEW JERSEY
The Pittsburgh Penguins hit the road Wednesday to take on the New Jersey Devils at 7:30 p.m.
FSN Pittsburgh will televise the contest at 7:30 p.m., while 3WS (94.5 FM) will start its radio broadcast with a pregame show at 7 p.m. The broadcast may be found live through streaming audio on pittsburghpenguins.com as well. The contest against the Devils marks the start of Pittsburgh’s second-longest road trip of the year. After playing in New Jersey, the Penguins head to Florida to take on the Panthers on Friday and the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday. They wrap up their road trip with a contest in Philadelphia on April 11.
The four-game road swing is second only to the team’s five-game jaunt through New Jersey, New York, Boston and Atlanta to start November.
The Penguins meet a familiar foe Wednesday in the Devils. The two teams battled Sunday at Mellon Arena. New Jersey tallied a pair of late goals to take a 3-2 win in overtime.
Pittsburgh clung to a 2-1 lead late in the third period before New Jersey’s Patrik Elias scored with 20 seconds left in regulation. The Devils got the game-winning goal 2:22 into overtime from Brian Gionta.
Penguins defenseman Sergei Gonchar had an assist in the game to extend his points streak to five games. He has three goals and five assists in that span. Rookie Colby Armstrong extended his points streak to four games. He has three goals and two assists in his last four games. He had an eight-game points streak earlier, which tied for second-most among NHL rookies this season.
