UNIONDALE, N.Y. – Sebastien Caron stopped all 29 Islanders shots to post a 4-0 win Friday night.

It was Caron’s fourth-career shutout and the Penguins’ second blanking of the year.

Sidney Crosby had a three-point night and Sergei Gonchar broke a long power-play drought with a pair of man-advantage goals.

Gonchar’s slap-shot deflected off an Islanders defenseman and knuckled past Garth Snow with 8:06 left in the second period for a power-play goal and a 1-0 Penguins lead. Crosby and Andy Hilbert assisted on the play. Gonchar's last power-play goal came on Oct. 29.

John LeClair boosted the Penguins’ lead to 2-0 just 1:11 later. He tipped a puck past Snow. Ryan Malone and Konstantin Koltsov had the assists.

Crosby tallied with 1:04 on the clock when he backhanded a shot past Snow. Hilbert and Colby Armstrong assisted on the goal.

New York had a good scoring chance early in the third period, but Caron stopped Sean Bergenheim’s penalty shot 1:51 into the frame.

Gonchar scored another power-play goal with 1:44 left. Crosby flipped the puck to him on the blue line and Gonchar ripped it into the net. LeClair added another assist.

The Penguins return home to play the New Jersey Devils at 3 p.m. Sunday.
