LEMIEUX LEADS QUAKER VALLEY PAST CONEMAUGH VALLEY

Mikael Lemieux racked up five points Monday night to lead Quaker Valley to a 10-4 win over Conemaugh Valley in the first round of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League 84 Lumber Penguins Cup Class A playoffs.

Lemieux, son of former Penguin Alain Lemieux and nephew of Penguins owner Mario Lemieux, recorded a hat-trick and added two assists for the Quakers (22-1-0). Furman South collected four goals and three assists in the win, while Colin South had two goals and two assists. Brenton McNamera had a goal, while Tim Hall had two assists. Noah Zamagias and Shawn Ritchey both added assists in the win.

Craig Yingling scored two goals for Conemaugh Valley (4-18-1). John Poloyac had two assists. Brent Rykala and Zach Pedrasky scored lone goals, while Nick Freidhoff and Corey Munko both had assists.

BISHOP McCORT 3, MARS 0

Brian Ross stopped all 21 shots he faced to pick up the shutout for the Crushers in another Class A contest.

Zachary Seidel and Marc Domonko both had a goal and an assist for Bishop McCort (19-3-1). Shawn James had two assists. Steve Polonsky had a goal, while David Champe and Chad James added assists.

CLASS AAA

MT. LEBANON 8, NORTH HILLS 0

Tyler Murovich scored two goals and added two assists to lead the Blue Devils to the quarterfinal victory.

Josh Mandic had four assists for Mt. Lebanon (23-0-0). Rick Beuke and Matt Bartkowski both had a goal and an assist, while Sean McDermott had two helpers. Drew Taucher, Shane Ferguson, James Cichra and Leo Agentieri all had single goals. Mike Roman, Brandon Dornish, Jesse Root, Jon Wilen, Mike Galloway and Steve Millhouse all had assists in the victory.

Matt Vaughn turned away 10 shots to record the shutout in goal for the Blue Devils.

CLASS AA

PINE-RICHLAND 9, GREENSBURG CENTRAL CATHOLIC  0

Dylan Trombetta, Evan Goetz and Andrew Lilly all scored two goals and had an assist in the Rams’ quarterfinal triumph.

George Saad, Jordan Yoklic and Phillip Trombetta all had one goal and one assist for Pine-Richland. Josh Fodor, Kyle Adams and Joe Christman both had two assists, while Brian Miller, Philip DiDonato and Brandan Conlon all had single assists in the win.
