PLAYERS SERVE AS WAITERS FOR CHARITY
PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Penguins raised over $244,000 for the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation last night when the team hosted its 19th annual “Penguins At Your Service” dinner at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh.
Penguins’ players, dressed in chef’s aprons, passed plates instead of pucks as they greeted guests and served as waiters for the evening. Along with dinner, the event included silent and live auctions.
Penguins’ rookie sensation Sidney Crosby captured highest-tip honors collecting over $30,000 in gratuities.
Since 1986, the dinner has raised over $4 million for research into finding a cure for cystic fibrosis.
