ISLANDERS VISIT MELLON ARENA ON SATURDAY

Friday, 02.03.2006 / 12:00 AM / Pittsburgh Penguins
Pittsburgh Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins look to snap their four-game winless streak Saturday at 2 p.m. when the New York Islanders visit Mellon Arena.

NBC will televise the contest at 2 p.m., while 3WS (94.5 FM) will start its radio broadcast with a pregame show at 1:30 p.m. The broadcast may be found live through streaming audio on pittsburghpenguins.com as well. Tune in for Penguins Hotline following every game on 3WS and the Penguins Radio Network. Join in the conversation with host Bob Grove by calling the Penn Telecom toll-free line at 1-866-922-2874.

In addition, the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League and SlotsForMario.com will host a rally at noon outside of Mellon Arena’s Gate 3 in support of the Penguins and Isle of Capri proposal to receive a slots license. Several prominent figures will speak and the organizers encourage people to come and voice their support.

Also, the Penguins declared Saturday as Black & Gold Day at Mellon Arena. All fans attending the game are encouraged to wear Pittsburgh colors and wave their Terrible Towels to support the Penguins as well as the Steelers, who play in Super Bowl 40 Sunday in Detroit.

The Penguins (12-32-10) are 1-13-1 in their past 15 games. They have lost their last four games. Sidney Crosby, who missed his first NHL game Thursday night with the flu, practiced Friday and should be available to play Saturday.

The Islanders (23-26-3) have won three of their last four games and are 5-4-1 in their last 10.

This game is the third in four days for the Penguins. After a travel day Sunday, they play four games in six days before they are off for nearly two and a half weeks because of the Olympic break.
