PENS RE-ASSIGN SABOURIN TO WILKES-BARRE\/SCRANTON

PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned goaltender Dany Sabourin to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, it was announced today by General Manager Craig Patrick.

Sabourin appeared in one game for the Penguins, stopping 10 of the 14 shots he faced last night in Columbus.  It was his first appearance in the NHL since the 2003-04 season when he appeared in four games for the Calgary Flames, posting a 0-3-0 record with a 3.55 goals against average.

Sabourin, 25, has posted a 15-1-1 record this season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, recording a 1.78 goals against average and a .939 save percentage with three shutouts.  Sabourin is tied for first (with Marc-Andre Fleury) among AHL goaltenders in save percentage, ranks second in goals against average, is tied for second in shutouts and is tied for third in wins.

The 6-2 and 190-pound native of Val d’Or, Quebec was signed as a free agent by the Pittsburgh Penguins on August 10, 2005.  Sabourin was originally drafted by Calgary in the fourth round (108th overall) of the 1998 Entry Draft.
