MARIO LEMIEUX ENTERS HOSPITAL FOR OBSERVATION OF IRREGULAR HEARTBEAT
Penguins owner/captain will miss Thursday’s game vs. Minnesota
Mario Lemieux was admitted to the hospital today for observation of an irregular heartbeat, it was announced by Penguins General Manager Craig Patrick.
Lemieux, who will be monitored in the hospital overnight, will miss Thursday’s game against the Minnesota Wild at Mellon Arena. His playing status will be day-to-day after that.
“Mario experienced an irregular heartbeat after practice today, and we thought the best precaution was to have him enter the hospital for observation,” Patrick said.
Lemeux, 40, has missed two games in recent weeks because of a stomach virus.
In 25 games this season, he has 7 goals and 14 assists for 21 points.
