BABY PENGUINS WIN AHL RECORD 15TH STRAIGHT ROAD GAME

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Baby Penguins extended their American Hockey League record for consecutive road wins with a 3-2 decision at Norfolk on Saturday.

The Baby Penguins (20-0-2) broke the record Friday night with a 3-2 overtime win at Norfolk.

The Baby Penguins have now won 15 consecutive regular-season road games, two better than the former league mark of 13, which was held by the 1995-96 Albany River Rats and the 2002-03 Hamilton Bulldogs.

The AHL record is also the longest among all current North American professional leagues as well as the defunct International Hockey League.

The Baby Penguins’ current road winning streak dates back to last season. The team won its final two road goals of the 2004-05 regular season in addition to its first 12 this season. The Baby Penguins’ last road defeat came on April 9 in Binghamton by a score of 5-2.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s previous record for consecutive road victories was five, set from Oct. 27, 2000, through Nov. 26, 2000.

The Baby Penguins look to stretch their record to 16 games Sunday night as they travel to meet the Hershey Bears.
