Marines to assist in toy collection at Mellon Arena;
drive benefits Toys for Tots and Salvation Army

The Pittsburgh Penguins will hold their annual holiday toy drive on Saturday when they take on the Calgary Flames at 7 p.m. at Mellon Arena. Fans are asked to bring a new, unwrapped new toy to the game that night to benefit the Marines’ Toys for Tots program and the Salvation Army.

All fans who make a contribution will be eligible to win Penguins prizes.

Marines from Military Police Company B, located in North Versailles, will be collecting the toys outside the Mellon Arena gates on December 3.

The Penguins assisted the Marines in their Toys for Tots operation this year by donating storage space in the former St. Francis Hospital Building, across the street from Mellon Arena. The Marines will use the former hospital building to conduct a Toys for Tots open house during the first three weekends of December – Dec. 3-4, 10-11 and 17-18. Doors will be open from 9 a.m-3 p.m. on those days. Parents who have children in need will be required to present a valid photo ID for themselves and another form of identification for their children.

Major Eric Young and 1st Sergeant James Prokosch of Military Police Company B presented the Penguins with a plaque in recognition of their support at the Nov. 19 game vs. the Philadelphia Flyers.
