The Pittsburgh Penguins drew an average crowd of 15,902 for six October home games, an increase of 31 percent over October, 2003 - the largest attendance increase in the National Hockey League.

The NHL, rebounding dramatically from a work stoppage that wiped out the 2004-05 season, set an attendance record for October, drawing an average crowd of 16,820 for 174 games. NHL buildings were filled to 91.2 percent capacity.

The Penguins led the way in increased attendance among individual clubs, followed by Tampa Bay (+26%), Calgary (+23%), Carolina (+21%), Florida (+19%), Atlanta (+15 %), Boston (+15%), Nashville (+14%), San Jose (+13%) and Chicago (+13%).

The Penguins begin a five-game road trip tonight at New Jersey. They return home to meet the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday, Nov. 10 at Mellon Arena. For Penguins ticket information, please call 412-642-PENS or 1-800-642-PENS, or email tickets@pittsburghpenguins.com.
