PENGUINS SET TO MAKE NATIONAL TV DEBUT ON OLN

The Pittsburgh Penguins make their national television debut Monday night on OLN in Buffalo when they take on the Sabres at 7 p.m.

OLN will be the only place to find Monday night’s telecast locally – FSN Pittsburgh will not televise the game. FSN Pittsburgh will resume its coverage Friday night when the Penguins travel to Philadelphia. On the radio, 3WS will carry the Penguins broadcast as always with Paul Steigerwald and Phil Bourque calling all the action.

Monday night’s broadcast will be the second of the season for OLN, which televised last Wednesday’s Rangers-Flyers game on the NHL’s opening night. Mike “Doc” Emrick and John Davidson will serve as play-by-play and color commentators, respectively.

The Penguins will have a new face in goal Monday as Marc-Andre Fleury, who was recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, will get the start between the pipes. The Penguins placed Jocelyn Thibault on injured reserve since he took a puck to the knee in Saturday’s morning skate. Andy Chiodo was recalled from Wheeling to take Thibault’s place for Saturday night’s game against the Boston Bruins. However, Chiodo was sent to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton following Fleury’s promotion. Sebastien Caron had started the past two games in goal for the Penguins. Thibault is out until at least the weekend with a severely bruised knee.

Pittsburgh (0-1-2) is looking for its first win of the season, while the Sabres are 2-1 and unbeaten at home. Rookie phenom Sidney Crosby leads the Penguins with five points. He scored his first NHL goal Saturday night.
