PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed right wing Colby Armstrong, it was announced today by General Manager Craig Patrick. In accordance with club policy, terms of the contract were not released.

Armstrong, 22, established new career-highs in goals (18), assists (37) and points (55) during the 2004-05 season with the Penguins’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Armstrong was one of six players to appear in all 80 games for the Penguins. Armstrong tied for third on the team in scoring and tied for fifth with a plus-9 rating.

Armstrong tied for the team lead with four playoff goals in 11 games and ranked fifth in playoff scoring (4+2).

The 6-2 and 190-pound native of Lloydminster, Saskatchewan was drafted by the Penguins in the first round (21st overall) of the 2001 Entry Draft. Armstrong has played in 220 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, 2002-2005, recording 100 points (35+65) and 236 penalty minutes.
