PENGUINS RE-SIGN DEFENSEMAN ROB SCUDERI
PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed defenseman Rob Scuderi, it was announced today by Penguins General Manager Craig Patrick. In accordance with club policy, terms of the contract were not released.
Scuderi, 26, has appeared in 13 National Hockey League games for Pittsburgh in his career, all of them during the 2003-04 season, recording three points (1+2) and four penalty minutes. He has played in 292 career games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton during the last four seasons, recording 80 points (8+72) and 198 penalty minutes.
The 6 foot, 214 pound Scuderi played in 79 games during the 2004-05 season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, recording 20 points (2+18) and 34 penalty minutes. He ranked 4th among team defensemen in scoring during the regular season while appearing in a career high 79 games for the Baby Penguins. Scuderi tied for 3rd on the team in plus/minus (+15) and was plus or even in 57 of 79 games played. He recorded three multiple assist games during the regular season and posted three points (2+1) and two penalty minutes in 11 playoff games.
Scuderi, a native of Syosset, New York, was drafted by the Penguins in the fifth round (134th overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
