Penguins\' Kennedy Suspended for One Game
TORONTO (February 2, 2009) - Pittsburgh Penguins’ forward Tyler Kennedy has been suspended for one game, without pay, for his involvement in an altercation during a stoppage in play during NHL Game #734, Jan. 31 against the Toronto Maple Leafs, the National Hockey League announced. Kennedy was suspended per Rule 70.2 which states: “A player who has entered the game on a legal line change... who starts an altercation may be subject to discipline ...”.

Kennedy was assessed a five-minute major for fighting Toronto defenseman Luke Schenn following a legal line change at 9:36 of the third period.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and based on his average annual salary, Kennedy will forfeit $2,912.37. The money goes to the Players’Emergency Assistance Fund.

Kennedy will miss Pittsburgh’s game at Montreal on Feb. 3. He will be eligible to return on Feb. 4 against Tampa Bay.
