No matter if the Penguins have a lead or trail in a game, they keep the same mental approach.

According to Adam Hall that was evident in Saturday night’s 2-1 loss to the Red Wings in Game 4.

“It’s very easy to get down, sometimes, when things like that are going against you. In between periods and on the bench, the guys are doing a great job of saying the right things and making sure we’re in the right mindset to go out there,” he said. “There are so many ups and downs that you could go insane sometimes going through the emotional rollercoaster like that. Guys are doing a great job making sure we’re all focused on what we need to do. If they score a goal, it doesn’t matter. We have to go back out there and play the way we need to play to be successful.”

CENTURY MARK

Saturday night’s game marked the 100^th game of the season for the Penguins. The team played 82 regular-season contests and Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final represented the 18^th playoff game for Pittsburgh.

That total doesn’t count the team’s six preseason games it played.

For Detroit, it marked game No. 102. The team has played 20 playoff games. The Red Wings played nine preseason games as well.

CUBAN IN THE HOUSE

Pittsburgh native Mark Cuban was in attendance Saturday night at Mellon Arena to cheer on the Penguins.

Cuban, who grew up in Mt. Lebanon, is the owner of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks and chairman of HDNet, an HDTV cable network. He remains a Penguins season ticketholder despite living in Dallas.

HOME STREAK SNAPPED

The Penguins’ 2-1 loss to Detroit in Game 4 Saturday at Mellon Arena ended the Pittsburgh’s home playoff win streak at nine games – a franchise record for consecutive wins in one playoff year. The previous mark of six was set in 1992 as the Penguins won their last six home games of those playoffs en route to the Stanley Cup.

Overall this year, the Penguins won a franchise-record 17-straight home games and went 18-0-2 in their last 20 home contests before the loss to the Red Wings. The Penguins’ last home loss came more three months ago – Feb. 24 against San Jose in a shootout, 2-1.

The team’s home sellout streak remained intact, however, and was extended to a franchise-best 66 games. That encompasses the last 13 regular-season games and two playoff dates in 2006-07 as well as 41 regular-season home games and 10 playoff battles this year.
