The Pittsburgh Penguins, in conjunction with the NHL announced the club’s 82-game schedule for the 2007-08 regular season. 

The season will open for the Penguins on Friday, Oct. 5, when they visit the Carolina Hurricanes.  The home opener will be played on Saturday, Oct. 6, as the Penguins host the defending Stanley Cup champion Anaheim Ducks at Mellon Arena.

A total of 32 games will be played against teams in the Atlantic Division as the Penguins play each of their division rivals eight times (four home, four road). The Penguins battle every team in the Eastern Conference’s Northeast and Southeast divisions four times each (two home, two road). The Penguins will hit the road to visit each of the five teams in the Northwest Division, marking the first NHL appearance of Sidney Crosby in Western Canada.  They will host each of the five teams from the Pacific Division and will not face any opponents from the Central Division this season. 

The regular season will conclude on Sunday, April 6th when the Penguins visit the Philadelphia Flyers.  

In addition, the Penguins announced the club’s six-game schedule for the 2007-08 preseason. The Penguins will open the preseason on Sept. 17 with the first of two back-to-back games against the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

The Penguins will play six preseason games (two home, four away) in September. The Penguins will play two home-and-home series against the Detroit Red Wings on Sept. 21 and 22 and against the Buffalo Sabres on Sept. 28 and 29.
