The Pittsburgh Penguins rank No. 1 in the NHL and No. 2 overall in professional sports in “Fan Relations,” according to ESPN The Magazine’s 2013 Ultimate Team Standings.
The magazine’s annual survey of sports fans also ranked the Penguins No. 1 in the NHL and No. 4 in pro sports in “Stadium Experience” at CONSOL Energy Center.
ESPN the Magazine conducts the survey each year to rank all 122 MLB, NBA, NFL and NHL teams. Categories range from “Fan Relations” to “Bang For the Buck.” Sub-categories include “Fan Friendly Environment” and “Honest Ownership.”
On Friday, ESPN announced its overall rankings for 2013. The Penguins were ranked the No. 1 franchise in the NHL and No. 7 overall out of 122 pro sports teams.
Rankings in various categories and sub-categories were announced today.
Among the Penguins’ other rankings:
Players and owners show appreciation to fans – 1st NHL, 3rd overall
Players accessible to fans – 1st NHL, 3rd overall
Provide avenue for fan feedback – 1st NHL, 3rd overall
