Bennett, 21, collected three assists in four games with WBS during his most-recent AHL assignment. On Friday night, Bennett earned the primary assist on Alex Grant’s overtime game-winning goal in a 3-2 victory over the Adirondack Phantoms.
The 6-foot-2, 207-pound Bennett has played in 19 NHL games with Pittsburgh this season, notching nine points (2G-7A) and a plus-7 rating. After going scoreless in his first four NHL games, Bennett has collected nine points over his past 15 games.
Originally drafted by Pittsburgh in the first round (20th overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft, Bennett ranks fourth on WBS in scoring with 28 points (7G-21A) in just 39 AHL games. Earlier this season, Bennett was chosen to represent WBS at the AHL All-Star Classic, although he didn’t play in the game due to injury.
