The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forward Beau Bennett from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.
Bennett, 21, has notched three points (1G-2A) and a plus-1 rating in eight NHL games this season. He scored his first NHL goal against Tampa Bay on Feb. 24. Bennett has tallied all three of his points over his previous four games.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound forward had 18 assists and 25 points in 35 games with WBS this season. Bennett was chosen to represent WBS at the AHL All-Star Classic, although he didn’t play in the game due to injury.
Bennett became the highest-drafted California-born player when the Penguins made him the 20th-overall selection in the first round of the 2010 NHL Draft, played two seasons of collegiate hockey at the University of Denver from 2010-12, tallying 13 goals, 25 assists and 38 points in 47 games. Last season, Bennett was averaging better than a point per game for Denver before he was sidelined due to injury.
