How long have you been following the Pens and how did you become a fan? I suppose I've been avidly following the Pens since around Christmas 2010. My sister lives in Pittsburgh, so I was influenced that way, due to my hometown being in the middle of the state. I really got into it when I watched the first high school hockey game of the season. During an intermission, I went out to the lobby (I think to call someone) and the Pens game was on. By the time the high school game was over, I was in love with the game and I went to the Pens website and started to listen to Mike Lange call the games. Being used to watching football on television, it was difficult to listen to such a rapid-fire call, and it took me a few games to catch up beyond something that wasn't ''score!''
Who is your favorite Penguins player (past or present)? James Neal
Tell us about your favorite Penguins memory.
Last year, Matt Cooke came to town! I have to admit, I think I nagged my mother to take me to the game. I decided, since I was in an artsy mood that summer, to draw a picture of him and give it to him at the game. When I finally got up to him (there was a really long line), I set up the two programs for the game and the picture for him to sign. He did the programs and then looked at the picture. I had a terrible conversation due to me not expecting a conversation at all about if I'd drawn it, and I managed to garble up words terribly that I don't even remember what exactly was said, but it ended up with him asking me to sign the picture for him. That moment is actually in the picture above.
On game day I usually...
I get my homework done as quickly as possible, put on my James Neal jersey that I got for my birthday, camp out in front of my computer at around 6:40 (assuming it's a 7:00 game) and listen to the pre-game interviews. I'll go on the Penguins website and check out the practice report and any other news for the day regarding the Pens. I'll also post statuses on Facebook, depending on what awesome plays happen during the game.
